Bar Americain

I went to New York City for a vacation with my family this past week.  The one thing I really wanted to do was to eat at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain. I always watch Throwdown with Bobby Flay, The Next Food Network Star and the Iron Chef. He seems like a really nice guy and he cooks up really good food. I wanted to go to Bar Americain because each episode of  Throwdown with Bobby Flay shows him on the balcony of his restaurant and I thought it looked like a cool place to have dinner, and I was right!

We walked into the restaurant and I was excited.  We sat down at the table and I could tell it was the fanciest restaurant I have ever reviewed. Our waiter was named John and he was nice and an excellent waiter. In fact all of the waiters were very helpful. I ordered lemonade and the Plate of the Day, the Country Style Ribs with Bourbon Barbeque Sauce and the Tomato Corn Bread. After we ordered, John brought out the bread. Included in the basket was my favorite– corn bread. When I tasted the corn bread I wondered what was in it, so my mom asked one of the waiters and he went back and asked the chef and he immediately came back and shared the recipe with us.

We decided to take a picture on the balcony where Bobby Flay shoots the beginning of Throwdown. While we were there, we met one of the managers, Jason. Jason said that Bobby Flay was wonderful to work for. I was happy to hear that.

My ribs were very tender and easily came off the bone. The sauce was a little bit spicy and sweet. I loved the ribs!! The tomato corn bread was shaped like a mini muffin. You could absolutely taste the tomato and I liked the flavor it added to the corn bread. I also got the chance to try Bobby’s secret french fries. They were perfectly fried and they had a nice crisp texture. I thought they were amazing. My mom said they were the best french fries she ever tasted.

We decided to order a dessert. I got the Deep Dish Chocolate Cream Pie. It didn’t look like a regular slice of pie. It was in the shape of a circle. The crust was on the top and it was like a cookie. The chocolate was delicious and it tasted like a really good chocolate mousse.

Everyone who worked there was great. The food was the best I’ve ever had.

This place was so good I had to change my rating system.  This little food dude gives Bar Americain a perfect 10.
